New Achievements!

Saturday, March 2nd, 2019

We’re thrilled to announce the release of new achievements for Angels, Demons, and Humans that support them. There are over two dozen new challenges with multiple levels, each of which can earn you badge icons for your profile, and the envy and esteem of your fellow players!

We’ve made an update to our Rarity calculation as a result of the new achievements. There are certain achievement requirements in order to reach certain soul rarity levels, such as that you need 7 or more achievements at level 5 in order to reach Ultra-rare soul status. Before this update, there were four frenzy and berserk achievements, but now there are eight. Only four frenzy and berserk achievements will continue to count towards the rarity requirement, in order to maintain the same level of difficulty for the rarity levels. So, any four out of the eight total frenzy and berserk achievements will count for rarity.

We made a similar update to The Soul War medal award system. There are medals you can win in soul war for getting certain numbers of achievements to certain levels, such as getting 5 different achievements to level one to get the Wooden Star. Only four out of the eight Frenzy and Berserk Achievements will count towards Soul War Medals. You can still do all eight, and they still count for Soul War Progress and rankings. You just won’t be able to use only Frenzies and Berserks to get the Wooden Star and other medals, you will have to get other achievements as well.

Again, the goal of the above two updates is to maintain the same difficulty level of getting medals and rarity, while just expanding the number of achievements that there are to choose from to get medals and increase rarity.

And finally, this month we’ll be releasing a completely new style of Soul War Rare textures! Details on that are to come, but the gist is that we will be retiring the previous Soul War Rare design and replacing it with a new one. Also, the way in which textures are delivered will change; currently if you win a Soul War category, you get a texture for multiple container designs. Since we’ve added two containers, delivering 5 different versions of the same award texture (especially when not everyone owns every type of container) seems a bit overkill.

Starting on April 1st, if you win a Soul War category you will be delivered just one rare texture, and it will be in the container type of whatever your dominant race is on the 1st. So if you are demon-dominant, you’ll be delivered an Urn Soul War Rare texture for your winning category, if you’re angel-dominant you’ll be delivered a Vessel Soul War Rare texture, and so forth. More details on the new style of Soul War Rare texture will be released soon, so stay tuned to this blog!

Update: Determined Wells

Monday, January 7th, 2019

Update 1/31/2019: some people have asked for more reasoning for why we’re making this change, here is the explanation:

Many people have trouble with this achievement, we get several support requests every day asking for this achievement to be reset because they failed to log in. Sometimes HUDs don’t connect when people log in, and they have to go through the process in our blog post where they check the website to make sure it counted up. We can’t send a message to people about this every time they wear their HUD without sending a message every time everyone wears their HUD. This way, we can give an explicit update message to people when they touch the well, and they have to take an explicit action to update the achievement, instead of something that people assume happens automatically, but sometimes doesn’t.

Now, instead of the procedure being: look at the website, log in, look at the website again, reattach until it counts up, it’s: go to the sim, click the well, see a fun magic particle effect, and get a message tell you exactly what your status is.

Original post follows:

We’ve made an update to the sims which will affect the Determined achievement. This update should create more reliability with the achievement (for some users who were having difficulties) and add some interactive fun for everyone!

At the center of each main store is a Determined Well. If your avatar is within 10 meters and you touch the well, it will register your Determined point for the day as well as trigger a particle and sound effect. The locations of the wells are below:

Until February 1st, the Determined achievement points will register the normal way (via HUD check-in) and via touching the Determined Wells. At the end of the month (February 1st, 2019) we will turn off the HUD check-ins and all Determined points will need to be registered via touching the wells.

This update will help make getting the Determined Achievement a bit less mysterious, because after touching one of the wells, you’ll get a message letting you know the exact status of your achievement, and you should no longer need to follow the procedure that we outlined in our previous Determined post here.

Thanks for the great suggestions, and stay tuned for more updates!

Grid-Wide Event: The Gallery Tour 2018

Monday, September 3rd, 2018

We’re excited to announce the next official grid-wide Bloodlines Event – The Gallery Tour 2018! Last year’s event was such a great success, we’re excited to see what everyone will come up with this year. It will start on September 3rd and run to September 28th.

The Gallery Tour is an event for people who wish to show off their collection of Bloodlines Rares. It doesn’t have to be a bona fide gallery, it could be a dungeon or a room in your house, or any place you like to show off your collection. Also, to win you don’t necessarily need to have the largest collection of Rares – judging will include looking at the style and atmosphere of the place, organization etc. Anyone owning a Bloodlines Haunt can opt-in, and anyone with a HUD will be able to participate in the tour.

What specifically does this mean for Bloodlines players? It means during that month we’ll be connecting participating Haunts up via the website and the HUDs, so that you can easily travel from gallery to gallery, and meet up with people while discovering new Bloodlines-friendly locations.

For Haunt owners, this event means a chance to get your location on the map! The Gallery Tour will provide an influx of new visitors, as well as give you a chance to network with other Bloodlines friendly locations. Players will be able to vote on their favorite Galleries, and prizes will be awarded at the end. Mars and Lyle will be visiting participating locations to help with the final judging of the top locations, and we hope to see you there! On the final day (Friday September 28th) we’ll be having an event on the Bloodlines sims, and we’ll give away the prizes.

Voting will start in a few days and run until September 28th. During that time, all you need to do to vote is press the ‘Vote’ link next to the Gallery Tour icon on the profile of participating haunts.

Prizes (Awarded at the end of the Month):

Gallery Tour Participation Rare – Given to anyone who opted-in their location to the event. (Limit one per avatar)

10 Runner-Up Rares (Silver Crown) – Given to the best 10 Galleries (or more if judges decide there are more worthy runners-up).

3 Top Rares (Gold Crown) – Given to the top 3 Galleries. These will also receive a banner on the Bloodlines homepage for a week following the event.

Getting involved is simple:

Location Owners – If you already have a Haunt, just log into your profile, Edit Haunts, and opt-in via the radio button for the Gallery Tour Event. Make sure to use the Haunt Events calendar to schedule specific times for your events.

Bloodlines players – The Gallery Tour will automatically generate locations in your HUD, under the Haunt button. We’ll also make it clear on the website which locations are participating, so you should be able to easily find the next great location to visit!

At the end of the month on September 28th, we’ll wrap it up with an official party / awards ceremony on the Bloodlines sims where we’ll deliver all the prizes, so be sure to stop by. See you there!
