We’re excited to announce a new phase in the development of Legends – Legends Environments. We are able now to start releasing NPCs and objects for home use that interact with Legends HUDs and wands.

Our first few items are the Rustic Well and the Tool Vendors, which currently only exist on our RP regions. At the tool vendors players can trade coins for harvesting tools, or grab a few free / decorative tools like the Quill and Hammer. At the Rustic Well one can draw water for stamina, or make a wish for a Copper Coin. Both items may be updated later to add Quest connectivity / interaction.

These are available now in our affiliate vendors and at our home regions.

Keep an eye out for further Legends Environment items coming out soon!

Legends Event ~ Rare Ritual

Tuesday, June 15th, 2021

Summer is officially here and with it comes fresh excitement and adventures! Grimley the Tree Spirit has set up a small temple for the season and is determined to make the forest flourish. He’s at the Lycan Woodlands and has a selection of Rare Ritual events for you:

  • Candy Hunt – The benevolent Tree Spirit has spread delicious Violet Candies across the Lycan Woodlands. Better grab a few before the season ends! Touch all 25 of the hidden random objects to get a Violet Candy that will give you 5 stamina each.
  • Mushroom Hunt – The Tree Spirit needs mushroom spores to repopulate the vibrant forests of the land. Find 25 Forest Mushrooms and turn them in for Tree Tokens which can be spent on rare loot.
  • Flower Conjuring – The Tree Spirit has chosen specific plots to grow magical flowers to help beautify and magically protect the forest. Acquire magical seed packets from the Tree Spirit and then go use your wand to bring flowers magically to life for a reward of Tree Tokens you can spend on loot.
  • Gacha & Prizes – Head to the Piper’s Plunder mobile pirate ship, located in the water down below the Lycan Woodlands Wizard Tower. The mesh items for this event will be mod / trans and no copy, ideally thereby more useful for trading or reselling later.

The event is set up right near the Wizard Training Tower at the Lycan Woodlands

The event will run until July 21st, so if you want any of that loot you’d best get hunting!

*For those non-Legends players who would still like to acquire rare textures, at the end of the month for 1 week we’ll be putting Tree Tokens on sale for Lindens. You’ll still have to wear a Legends HUD and put the coins in your ‘hand’ to take spins, but that’s it. The coins will even out to our normal gacha spin price of 75L / spin (vs. around 50L / spin if you play the quests and earn the coins) but at least there will be an option for you.

***UPDATE: We have decided to extend this event by one week, so it will be ending Wednesday July 21st at midnight.

New Quest: Swords to Order

Monday, April 19th, 2021

Greetings Legends! We’re excited to announce another quest.

Katrin Revere, blacksmith of Bridgetown, has been hexed by an angry witch and can’t remember the plans for crafting swords for an order this week. Help her by traveling the lands learning the different recipes and crafting the swords for her.

The quest rewards are listed on the flyer. In addition to the Quest achievement, five new crafting achievements have also been released (Swordsmith 1-5) but can be done separately from this quest.

This quest starts with Katrin in Vampire Islands.

*To complete this quest you will also need to do (or have done) the quest Benighted of Bridgetown.

Seasonal Event: Rare Spring

Friday, April 9th, 2021

Spring is officially here and with it comes fresh excitement and adventures! Jasper Windsong was flying his airship when magical winds ran amok. He’s landed on the Mortal Crossroads and has different Rare Spring events for you:

  • Carrot  Hunt – A new breed of carrot has been spotted growing on Midland! They seem to be magical, better grab a few before the season ends! Touch all 25 of them to pick a spring carrot that will give you 5 stamina.
  • Egg Hunt – Rabbits from Pleador hibernate in brightly colored egg-shaped pods, and the magical winds keep blowing them out of storage on Jasper’s airship and into the lands about. Find 25 Rabbit Eggs and turn them in for Carrot Coins which can be spent on rare loot.
  • Rabbit Rescue – Some of the Rabbit Eggs have hatched in the chaos, and the bewildered rabbits are running around in need of rescue. Craft an Empty Egg, find a burrow and use your wand to rescue a rabbit and earn larger coin rewards. *This is a challenging quest so see the bottom of this post for tips on how to do it.
  • Gacha & Prizes – Head to the Piper’s Plunder mobile pirate ship, located in the water just below Jasper’s airship at Mortal Crossroads.

He’ll have more exciting quests in the coming weeks as well!

The event is set up right near the Wizard Training Tower at the Mortal Crossroads.

The event will run until May 1st, so if you want any of that loot you’d best get hunting!

*For those non-Legends players who would still like to acquire rare textures, at the end of the month for 1 week we’ll be putting Carrot Coins on sale for Lindens. You’ll still have to wear a Legends HUD and put the coins in your ‘hand’ to take spins, but that’s it. The coins will even out to our normal gacha spin price of 75L / spin (vs. around 50L / spin if you play the quests and earn the coins) but at least there will be an option for you.

*Rabbit Rescue Tips*

This quest can be tricky to complete, and is unfortunately more susceptible to lag than most. Here are some tips and tricks to know in order to help make it a smoother process:

  • Use the smallest wand wave. It’s a quicker wave (so you can do more) and also creates less visual chaos so you can see the rabbit.
  • Any wand will work, the rabbits don’t have a power requirement.
  • You need 3 successful waves near a rabbit to rescue it. However, if the rabbit goes underground and you have to rez a new one from the burrow, that new rabbit will ‘remember’ that you made progress and you can pick up where you left off.
  • The rabbits are set so that if they are stuck in one place for 5 seconds or more, they’ll teleport back to the burrow area.
  • The rabbits are set such that if they run around for 1 minute and aren’t caught, they ‘go underground’. Just rez another one at the burrow to keep going.
  • Lag does affect these, so in bad conditions the rabbit unfortunately may not fully register. If you’re standing right over it and waving and no effects seem to be happening, wait for the rabbit to go underground and try again by touching the burrow.
  • Last but not least, if you are really stuck and lag is preventing rabbits from registering for you, try another burrow! There are 10 of them over 5 sims, and at any given point you should be able to escape the lag storms that occasionally plague these lands.

Finally, if you feel there is something truly amiss you can always file a ticket and we’ll get you sorted out one way or another! Thanks for your patience and happy rescuing!

3 New Quests + Flint Tools

Wednesday, March 24th, 2021

We added 3 new quests to the “Novice” flyer on the Notice Board in the Mortal Crossroads: Runar’s Rumblings, Swirling Supplies and Tool Troubles. These are relatively easy quests that also help teach a few concepts or interactions in Legends. They are repeatable (at either 24 or 48 hour intervals) and are included in the Legends War now.

Another issue presented to us by users was the fact that attaining a first set of Iron Tools was an ordeal for a new player. We attempted to partially remedy this by introducing a cheaper set of Flint Tools. These tools cost about half as much as the Iron version, but also have half the Durability (50 total) and also do not harvest all the upper level resources that the metal tools do. Hopefully however they’ll be useful for a player just starting out.

Flint Adjusments + New Ingot:

As a result we had to make Flint Bricks (basically ingots) and to make those be easy enough to access for lower level players, we had to make an adjustment to the Flint resource.

To make Flint Tools easily repairable, we needed Flint to be a 1000 / Common level resource. It previously was at 350 / Rare however, and we realize that decimating the value by 2/3 would probably make some of you unhappy. So, we compromised by renaming the current Flint resource to “Slate” (keeping the 350 value) and creating a new Flint resource that is 1000 / Common, which can be mined on the Granite Mine.

We realize this may not be a totally perfect solution, but we did our best to preserve the resource wealth of current users while still adding this accessibility for new players.

We also are adding a “Flint Arrowhead” resource to the Level 1 map so that players can smelt those into Flint Bricks if they wish.

Other Quest Adjustments:

Due to sometimes challenging overlaps between quests like Flyer Flier and all the other quests that intersect with Olaf, we made the call to have a few quests now start with items nearby the NPC rather than right on them. So for example, Flyer Flier now can be started by going to touch the “Help Wanted” sign in Olaf’s. Secret Society now starts by touching an Elder Emblem sitting on a table next to Baron Kinross, and the Elusive Amulet starts by touching a framed picture of an Elder Amulet that Patrick Sawyer has inside his stall.

If this solution works for people, we might do some more of this over time so that you don’t get quite so many blue menu options when you run into certain busy NPCs.

Legends Updates: Updated Tower Training + Tutorial HUD

Wednesday, March 24th, 2021

In an effort to make the intro to the game smoother for new players, we did an overhaul of the Crossroads Tower Training quest. There are several new steps, teaching a wider range of things (crafting, spending coins, using the Compass, etc.) and there’s a new ingredient (Bubblegum Mushrooms) and a new crafting recipe (Minor Stamina Potion) presented in the quest. The potion recipe can be learned at the Research Station as well.

We also added a Tutorial HUD to the Legends crate. The Tutorial HUD has moving gifs that illustrate various operations of the HUD and help guide the path through the training quest.

We also moved the freebie mesh rewards (and updated / added to them) to a reward box delivery at the end of the Wizard Training quest.

The new Tutorial completes by sending the adventurer down to the new Crossroads Notice Board at the base of the tower. This board has most of the Midlands quests on it, divided up into “Novice”, “Middling”, and “Advanced” (Expert is there but no quests on it yet).

Try the board out! In addition to making it clear where to find quests, it vends the Quest Flyer to show the rewards. While we do want to still have some quests that people can just ‘find’ in the RP areas, it seemed a good idea especially at Crossroads to give an easier path for new players to find things to engage with.

If you’d like to get the HUD and check it out, you can redeliver your Legends HUD (or other BL race HUD) and it should be in the Legends HUD crate.

We’ve also opened up the Crossroads Tower Training quest for repeats until the end of the week, so if you’d like to be informed so that you can explain it to new players or family members, give it a try!

*Note: as a result of the new Notice Board however, the Rumor Mill quest is a bit obsolete. We’re going to take that quest down temporarily and update it with some new hints and quests, and then will re-release that likely around the first week of April. Thanks for your patience.

Seasonal Event: Rare Luck

Tuesday, March 9th, 2021

There’s luck in the air and adventure afoot! Charlie the Leprechaun banker at Angel Havens finds himself every year aglow with extra magic during the month of March, and he’d like to share the wealth. He’s got different Rare Luck events for you:

  • Clover  Hunt – There are patches of clover all of Angel Havens, touch them and collect a 4-Leaf Clover to turn back in to Charlie’s Chest at the event landing to collect Leprechaun Gold.
  • Map Hunts – Use Gold Coins or Stamina to purchase treasure maps that Charlie has hand-drawn. There are 25 randomized maps and each depicts a crude drawing of a specific spot somewhere in the 5 regions. If you can find that spot and wave your wand, a pot of gold should rise up, rewarding you with anywhere from 5 to 50 Leprechaun Gold.
  • Gacha & Prizes – Head to the Piper’s Plunder mobile pirate ship store behind Charlie’s home to use Leprechaun Gold to take spins on Rare Container Gacha machines as well as use Leprechaun Gold to purchase mesh holiday items.

In addition:

  • Seasonal Treat Quest – Find 50 (!) Stamina-building treat drinks scattered over the 5 regions. They’re hidden in random objects and decor, you just need to touch the right thing to find the drink. See the previous blog post.

A new landing has been created temporarily for this event here at Angel Havens.

The event will run through April 1st, so if you want any of that loot you’d best get hunting!

You notice a small envelope slipped under your door! Opening it up you find the following message scrawled in strange cramped writing:

———————————

Hello friend,

—This has been my favorite time of year since I was just a wee spright of a fellow. I always feel my magic flowing strongly through my veins and as such I decided this month (and only this month) I will share the wealth, so to speak. I’ve hidden some of my favorite potions throughout the lands, ten in each area. They’re mostly outside, hidden away in little places, I hope you can find them all!

Yours in Magic and Mirth,

Charlie

———————————

Wow! Sounds like a really nice guy, you better get out there and start looking for the potions he shared, it doesn’t sound like they’ll be around for long!

Legends Updates

NEW MESH CRAFTING + NEW DEFAULT RESOURCES & RECIPES
———————————————————————————————–

We added a new mesh crafting recipe, “Gift Boxes #1”, which can be learned about a the Research Station.

To build it we also opened up some new default recipes on the Paper Press and Tincture Table:

– Fine Cardboard
– Wrapping Paper
– Straw Paper
– Gift Ribbon
– Palm Wax

WIZARD TOWER BACK DOORS
———————————————–
We added ‘back door’ TP shells to the bases of all the wizard towers. Now if you’d like to craft a wand but don’t want to deal with climbing stairs, you can touch one of these shells (usually somewhere outside the tower by the ground or on a wall) and it will zip you right up to the top:

POCKET ADJUSTMENTS
————————————–

To create less confusion (and free up space in packs and chests) we’ve decided to make the pocket stack situation much more uniform. Unless something is money (Copper Coins, Tokens, etc.) or a Stamina Pack (Humanity Pod, Ichor Ember, etc.) then items should have a stack size of 25.

This means that dozens of resources will be more stackable (iron cauldrons, buckets, idols, figureheads, etc.) but also mean that a few resources came down in stack size (Dust, Holiday Cookies and Treats, etc.). We hope that having things a uniform 25 will create less confusion for players and our quest-writers going forward.
