We’re so pleased to announce the winners and honorable mentions of our 2023 Haunt Tour Contest. There were so many amazing entries this year, it was difficult to make final decisions, but the final choices are listed below. Thanks to everyone who participated! Within the next few days, textures will delivered automatically to your Rare Library, as well as the prizes for the winners.
Thanks everyone for making this event a success! And be sure to visit all the Haunt locations you can before the month is up, to check out all the great decor.
We’re excited to announce the next official grid-wide Bloodlines Event – The Haunted Tour 2023! It will start today, October 1st and run to October 24th. We are giving away a combined total of 10,000 $L worth of containers to the winners! So we want to see your best decorating! Please see the end of the post for guidelines if you want a chance to win.
The Haunted Tour is an event for people who wish to show off their haunted houses, dungeons, clubs and bars for the spooky holiday ahead. Anyone owning a Bloodlines Haunt can opt-in and anyone with a HUD will be able to participate in the tour.
What specifically does this mean for Bloodlines players? It means during that time we’ll be connecting participating Haunts up via the website and the HUDs, so that you can easily travel from haunted location to haunted location, and meet up with people while discovering new Bloodlines-friendly places. (If you need to acquire a Haunt you can visit our stores here).
For Haunt owners, this event means a chance to get your location on the map! The Haunted Tour will provide an influx of new visitors, as well as give you a chance to network with other Bloodlines friendly locations. Players will be able to vote on their favorite Haunts, and prizes will be awarded at the end. Mars Bracken, Lyle Maeterlinck, Liquid Designs Resident and other officials will be visiting participating locations to help with the final judging of the top locations, and we hope to see you there!
Voting will start in a few days and run until October 24th. During that time, all you need to do to vote is press the ‘Vote’ link next to the Haunted Tour icon on the profile of participating haunts.
Prizes (Awarded at the end of the Tour):
1st Place Winner: Empty 100L equivalent container of your choice + Gold Crown rare texture + Banner on Bloodlines Homepage for a week following the event, from Oct 24th – Oct 31st.
2nd Place Winner: (3) 20L equivalent containers of your choice + Gold Crown rare texture + Banner on Bloodlines Homepage for a week following the event, from Oct 24th – Oct 31st.
3rd Place Winner: (2) 20L equivalent containers of your choice + Gold Crown rare texture + Banner on Bloodlines Homepage for a week following the event, from Oct 24th – Oct 31st.
5 Honorable Mentions: (1) 20L equivalent container of your choice + Silver Crown rare texture
Haunted Tour Participation Rare: Given to anyone who opted-in their location to the event, awarded at the end of the month (limit one per avatar).
Getting involved is simple:
Location Owners – If you already have a Haunt, just log into your profile, Edit Haunts, and opt-in via the radio button for the Haunted Tour Event. Make sure to use the Haunt Events calendar to schedule specific times for your events.
Bloodlines players – The Haunted Tour will automatically generate locations in your HUD, under the Haunt button. We’ll also make it clear on the website which locations are participating, so you should be able to easily find the next great location to visit!
Rules and Guidelines:
All locations opted-in will receive the Participation Rare at the end of the contest. However, a few things to think about when trying for prizes are:
Store Haunts – If your store is decorated and the haunt is part of the decor it will be considered. Non-decorated stores will not be considered for top prizes.
Clan Land / Other Haunts – If your family location does not have any event-specific decor, it will not be considered for top prizes.
Judging is subjective and will focus on quality, sticking to the spooky / haunted theme, and also ease of access. If the area you’re looking to share with the Bloodlines community is difficult to find / hard to access from the Haunt landing, that will affect your ability to earn a top prize.
Happy decorating, and good luck!

It has come to our attention that some locations in Second Life have taken the extraordinary action of taking moderation actions against anyone simply wearing items that are part of the Bloodlines game. Here are some tips on how to play Bloodlines anywhere without being detected by these.
One of the ways these detectors work is to get the list of objects attached to your body. The two attachments required to send attack requests are the HUD and the Nexus object. By default, the HUD attaches to a HUD attachment point, and the Nexus attaches to your avatar’s body. A detector can get data on attachments to your avatar’s body attachment points, but not HUD attachment points. You can avoid these detectors by attaching your Nexus to a HUD attachment point. For convenience and organization, you can even attach it to the same attachment point that your Bloodlines HUD is attached to. It will work exactly the same way. The only downside to this is that particle effects (such as for curse, embrace, etc) will no longer work. You should not see the Nexus on your screen if you do this, it should be invisible. If the Nexus object is visible on your screen, just touch it and then select ‘Hidden’ from the menu and it will disappear. If you want to see it again, go to Settings on your HUD, then Nexus > Visible.
One other thing that can be detected by these systems is animations that your avatar is playing, and default Bloodlines animations might be targeted by these kinds of detectors. To avoid this, you can turn animations off in your HUD by going to Settings > Animation > Anim On/Off.
You may get picked up by these detectors if you’re wearing other items, such as vials, amulets, fangs, claws, wings, horns, etc. If you do, we would just recommend temp detaching these until you leave the unfriendly environment.
Happy Hunting!
