The Valerian Potion

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013

Introducing The Valerian Potion! We often hear from members of the Bloodlines community that they regret certain attacks that appear on their profile, or wish to forget certain names off of their profile. The Valerian Potion is an herbal tonic that can purify your blood and lumens by removing the attacks of a selected person from your history. It can be reversed by drinking the potion again. Valerian has the magical properties of turning negative things into positive things. If you have a negative ghost flowing through your veins, Valerian will help you to release it. For more information, see the Valerian Potion page.

New Bloodlines Stat Listings

Monday, August 12th, 2013

We would like to give everyone a heads-up that we are preparing to finally make some much-requested updates to the Bloodlines stats. We are adding two new stats pages, one for Hybrids, and one for Humans.

This means that if you are currently a Hybrid (both embraced and enraged), and you are currently in the Vampire or Lycan stats for Generation or Royalty, you will be moved to the Hybrid stats. This means that instead of only two players being Generation 1, now there will be three. This also opens up two more slots in Generation 2, four more in Generation 3, eight more in Generation 4, etc. If you are a Hybrid currently in the Vampire stats and want to stay there, you will need to drink the Wolfsbane potion, and if you are currently a Hybrid in the Lycan stats and want to stay there, you will need to drink the Nightshade potion. You don’t have to do this yet. As we get closer to launching these changes, we will let you know exactly when it is going to happen.

For Humans, this means you finally get your own Bloodlines homepage and separate stats. We’re adding rankings for Cider Wealth and total amount of humanity converted into blood or lumens.

We’re also going to be making some updates to the site to make them easier to navigate and access on mobile devices.

Official Bloodlines Event: The Pub Crawl

Sunday, March 3rd, 2013

UPDATE 3.17.13:

The Pub Crawl starts today! You can now go directly to pub crawl locations by pressing the Haunt button on your HUD and selecting ‘Pub Crawl’. This will give you 6 randomly selected locations that are part of the Bloodlines Pub Crawl. We also have a listing of participating Pub Crawl locations on the Bloodlines website. Also, DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE LOCATIONS! You can vote for your favorite haunts by logging into the Bloodlines website, and pushing the ‘vote’ button on the profiles of your favorite Haunts! Get out there and try some Vital Blood, Moonshine, or Cider at your favorite Bloodlines Haunts!

UPDATE  3.13.13:

Prize Announcement – In addition to winning a 20L tank of Blood (or Lumens), the 3 best bars will get a banner which will rotate on the Bloodlines home page for 3 weeks (1st place) 2 weeks (2nd place) and 1 week (3rd place).

PREVIOUSLY:

We’re excited to announce an official grid-wide Bloodlines Event – The Pub Crawl! It will start on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th 2013, and run for 1 week.

The Pub Crawl is an event for bars in Second Life. Anyone owning a Bloodlines Haunt can opt-in, and anyone with a HUD will be able to participate in the crawl.

What specifically does this mean for Bloodlines players? It means during that week we’ll be connecting participating Haunts up via the website and the HUDs, so that you can easily travel from bar to bar, and meet up for a drink with people while discovering new Bloodlines-friendly locations. It also means you may have a chance to hang out with Mars Bracken and Lyle Maeterlinck, who will be on the crawl as well.

For Haunt owners, this event means a chance to get your bar or club on the map! The Crawl will provide an influx of new visitors, as well as give you a chance to network with other Bloodlines friendly locations. Players will be able to vote on their favorite Bars, and prizes will be awarded at the end. Also, Lyle and Mars may visit your bar during the event and share with you a bottle of Vital, Moonshine or Cider, and chat about Bloodlines.

Getting involved is simple:

Bar Owners – If you already have a Haunt, just log into your profile, Edit Haunts, and opt-in via the radio button for Official Bloodlines Events. Lyle and Mars (and everyone else participating) will be picking bars to visit based on 1) The photo in the Haunt profile and 2) The Haunt description text, so be sure to put in as much inspiration as you can!

Bloodlines players – On March 17th, The Pub Crawl will automatically generate locations in your HUD, under the Haunt button. We’ll also make it clear on the website which locations are participating, so you should be able to easily find the next hot location to crawl to!

Haunts Events Updates

Friday, January 4th, 2013

We’ve made some updates to the way events are scheduled for Haunts, and added a new events calendar for Haunts to the site. The new rules for Haunt events are:

  1. Events cannot have a start date more than 24 hours in the past, when the event is created or edited.
  2. Events that last more than 24 hours are marked as ‘ongoing’ events, and are listed in a separate calendar: the ongoing events calendar. Ongoing events are for things like hunts, contests.
  3. No event can last more than 30 days. Any events currently listed that were longer than 30 days have been truncated to last 30 days. Some people have listed events that go many years into the future. Please don’t do ridiculous things like this, or we will delete your event entirely. Party 24/7/365 is not an event!

In addition, we’ve made an easier way to browse events with the new events calendar and ongoing events calendar. You can also quickly find events happening today on the Haunts landing page.

The Bloodlines Hunt

Tuesday, October 16th, 2012

The Bloodlines Hunt, presented by Hunts R Us, is going on now!  At dozens of Bloodlines-friendly locations throughout Second Life, you can find over 150 prizes worth over 30,000 lindens! You can get the hunt HUD at the vendor at Liquid Designs region. The vendor looks like a coffin with an apple in it near the landing point. There are prizes from Bloodlines and The Crypt available on each of the Liquid sims: Liquid Designs, Liquid East, Liquid South, Liquid Badlands, and Liquid Frontier!

Contest: Win a 20-Liter or 200-Lumen Container

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

Last week, 3 lucky Bloodlines players won a full 5L/50Lumen container just by participating in 5 Bloodlines bite or claw attacks. This week’s contest will be a little more challenging: turn one fresh victim to a vampire or a lycan before midnight SL time this Saturday, and you’ll be entered to win a free, full 20-Liter blood Tank or Cask, 20L Cider Barrel, or a full 200-Lumen Bone or Iron Prism. Any of these containers will satisfy the Curse for 80 long, dark nights. To win, you must be the first one to bite the fresh victim or the first person to bite them after they drink the Wormwood potion, and then they have to fill to 5Liters of Vital or 50 Lumens to turn full Vampire or Lycan. Good hunting and a full moon to all the Bloodlines night stalkers out there…

UPDATE :

Congratulations to Azazel87 of The Vampire Blood Horde, loveless Carpathia of Rogue Coven Clan, and Anahi Sheriffe of Rose Noire Horde! Each of them have won their choice of a full 20-liter Tank, Cask, or Cider Barrel, or a 200-Lumen Prism!

Drawing for Free Blood, Cider, or Lumen Containers!

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

This Saturday night, we’ll be doing a drawing for three free Bloodlines containers, filled with 100% pure Bloodlines Vital Blood, freshly fermented Bloodlines Cider, or bright Bloodlines Lumens. All you have to do to enter is share a vampire bite or lycan scratch with 5 of your friends between now and midnight SL time on Saturday. Being the attacker or the victim counts. These don’t have to be shared with fresh victims, they can be with any 5 Bloodlines players. The three lucky winners will have their choice of a Tank, a Cask, a Cider Barrel, or a Bone or Iron Prism. Winners will be announced here this Sunday, so get out there and get your hunt on!

UPDATE: Out of 566 Bloodlines players who qualified by being involved in 5 or more vampire or lycan attacks in the past couple of days, we have randomly selected SissaPantera, LadyYepperz, and TitanCronnos! Each of them will be receiving their choice of a free, full 5L Blood, 5L Cider, or 50-Lumen container. Congratulations!

Coming Soon: Bloodlines Web Profiles!

Saturday, June 16th, 2012

We’d like to give you a heads up on a new feature on the Bloodlines website: web profiles! Very soon, you will be able to customize your Bloodlines web profile with a profile photo, about text, and you can even choose from a selected number of very cool fonts for your name! Also, clan leaders will be able to write about their clan on the website, and upload a group photo and clan emblem for their clan. Clan emblems will show on the profiles of all clan members, and the group photo will show on the new clan profile. We thought you might want to get your profile photos ready, so here are a few guidelines:

Profile photos are square, and will be resized to 180 x 180 pixels.

Clan emlems are square, and will be resized to 100 x 100 pixels.

Clan group photos have a 2:1 aspect ratio (width:height), and will be resized to 400 x 200 pixels.

We are also working on a new feature for the website called “Haunts”, where you will be able to register your Bloodlines bar, club, castle, roleplay area, or hangout on the Bloodlines website. You’ll be able to promote your location and your events there. Then, residents will be able to view a list of events going on at Bloodlines Haunts at any given time, and teleport right from the website. So, get your Vampire Castle, Blood Room, Lycan Bar, or Human Hangout ready for visitors! Stay tuned for more details on this!

Seeking Feedback: Dormancy

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

UPDATE 3/27/2012: After reading all of the feedback that we received, we’ve decided not to go ahead with this update. The description of this update caused a lot of confusion, and we don’t want to make any updates that cause anyone to worry about their stats. We only want to make updates that people are generally excited about, and some people thought that this was fair, but no one was really excited about it. Thanks to everyone who let us know their thoughts!

UPDATE: No one likes the idea of souls from “dormant” minions no longer totaling upwards, so scratch that. Also, many people don’t like the idea of having to be involved in a bite every 30 days, so now the proposal has changed to: just log in once every 30 days and wear one of your HUDs, and you’ll stay listed in the stats. If you don’t log in for 30 days, you’ll go “dormant”. If you log in after being dormant, you will come back from being dormant, and will be back in the stats. To clarify, this will not affect souls or other stats, it would just remove dormant players from rankings.

ORIGINAL POST: We’ve heard from some of you about the issue with players ranked in the stats on slbloodlines.com no longer actively participating in the Bloodlines community, or perhaps not having logged in for a long time, and we agree that players ranked in the live stats on the website should be current, active players of Bloodlines. We have a simple approach that we believe would accomplish this, but before we put it in place, we’d like to hear what you think.

Here’s our idea: make sure that anyone listed in the stats (generation, royalty, wealth) has been involved in a vampire bite or lycan attack in the last 30 days. So, if a vampire goes 30 days without biting anyone, or being bitten, they would automatically become dormant. Dormant vampires would not appear on the public stats, and would be moved to a separate list. A dormant vampire could come back and be re-listed on the stats simply by biting or being bitten.

Another idea we’d like to propose is the idea of the souls of dormant vampires no longer adding to the total souls of their liege, similar to humans. So, feel free to comment on this post, or contact Lyle Maeterlinck or Mars Bracken in-world with your thoughts on this potential change. We’ll be taking feedback on this until Monday, March 26. After that, we’ll let everyone know what we decide to do with this.
