New Royalty Statuses
September 25th, 2014 by Lyle MaeterlinckToday we’re announcing new royalty statuses for the first time since Bloodlines was created. Now you can be higher than a King, a Queen, or an Alpha, and rise up to starred royalty status, or all the way to an Emperor or Empress. These new statuses give minions new powers as well, because a minion with as little as 10 souls can gain a star on their profile and be part of a 1-star minion court.
For details on how this new mechanic works, see the new Statuses section in the Bloodlines Guide. The basic idea is that anyone who has reached King/Queen/Alpha status (by gaining 400 total souls) can then add up to 5 stars to this status based on how souls are distributed between their minions.
So, having 10 minions with 10 souls each gets you 1 star, 15 minions with 15 souls each gets you 2 stars, and so on up to 30 minions with 30 souls to get 5 stars. Starred kings/queens/alphas can get together and liege to an Emperor or Empress. An Emperor or Empress must have 20 total King/Queen/Alpha stars among their minions. Note the difference between minion stars (that lift a starred King/Queen/Alpha), and King/Queen/Alpha stars that lift an Emperor/Empress.
In addition to creating new levels of achievement to strive for, this adjustment should remove some of the emphasis on “stacking”; in order for players to truly rise, they need active minions pledging allegiance to them. Don’t hesitate to contact us or ask in the comments if you have any questions about this update. More great stuff coming soon!
Happy hunting to all!

Very interesting.
I never understood line padding or stacking, and I prefer the people to liege to the person they are closest to, the person who had hunted / brought them to the family – not the arbitrary one who would mean more numbers to everyone. This way everyone has to earn minions themselves, if they so wish. For me, this always made more harmonious coexistence within a group of as many active people as possible, rather than number manipulations.
Is there going to be a new ‘star’ category in the stats also?
I would also welcome some system counting active vs destroyed minions as a way to promote keeping the game active and lieges motivating activity, not only acquisition.

@Thus – Thanks for your input! And yes we’ve had a few requests now for a Star category in the stats, so we may implement that soon.

I have a pretty good understand how this works but I am curious as to what happens if you get an Emperor or Empress to leige under you?

This is all very interesting but how do you get the court to activate? Do I have to do anything? I have One star showing but it shows I am not in a court. Does my Liege have to do something? Is it automatic? If not then why not tell us how to get the court started. The explanation of the stars is great but it is missing the essential how to start it.

If you have an Emperor or Empress as a minion, they count the same way as any other minion. If you have an Emperor or Empress as your minion, your status will be partially determined by the souls they own. They won’t necessarily change your status just because of their status. Someone could be an Emperor or Empress, and also be a 1-star minion under a 1-star King / Queen / Alpha, if they were in a 1-star court. Put another way, your status is determined by your minions and the souls they have.

A court is a set of minions under the same liege that all have over a certain number of souls. If you have over 10 souls, then you have 1 possible star. In order to become part of a 1-star court, your minion needs at least 10 minions with at least 10 souls. So, if you have over 10 souls, you count as 1. If you can cooperate with at least 9 other minions under your same liege to get at least 10 souls, you will all be part of a 1-star court.
