The Rage: Lycans Have Arrived
July 6th, 2009 by Lyle MaeterlinckWe are pleased to announce the long-awaited arrival of the Bloodlines lycan system, The Rage. We know it’s long overdue, but we couldn’t rush it out, we wanted to make it as richly featured as The Thirst, and we agonized over the details. We’ve configured it so that The Thirst and The Rage can stand alone, or can seamlessly integrate, depending on how you want to use it. Vampires and Lycans can exchange attacks, and can mix together in clans and packs. Or, you can become both enraged and embraced to achieve the status of Hybrid, moving back and forth between both worlds. For all the details, please see the Vampire / Lycan interaction section of our new Game Guide.
We’ve been through a lot of testing, but it’s a complicated system and we can’t guarantee you won’t run into any errors. If you run into a problem, just send a notecard to Lyle Maeterlinck with a description of the problem, and we promise we’ll get it corrected right away.
Over the last year and two months, thousands of you have endured a relentless Vampire Curse to form the true vampire armies of Second Life. You have taken part in an adventure that encompasses both real and invented stories, and every one of your characters have left their mark on the story of Bloodlines forever.
Now arise the Lycan armies. I’m sure you’re with us when we say that we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Also, there is another big development just over the horizon, so stay tuned…
Thanks to everyone for your support!

Hi Mars and all of the BloodLines team,
I’m a little pacifist myself (why do I hear roars of laughter?). I have no desire or intention to wage a war upon lycans or swap vital blood.
I can see myself getting tired of denying animation requests from lycans as I walk around shopping malls or welcome areas. Bloodlines has released a new creature on the grid. The general SL human and vampire population, as far as I am aware, is unprotected from random lycan slashing.
I trust you are ready for a whole new rise of complaints about random slashers from both humans and vampires. I am certain you will put a nice pretty scripted item (similar to the garlic neclace) for vampires and humans to wear and enable. I look forward to wearing one of those very soon.
Question:.
If any lycan would NOT wish to be bitten by a vampire, can they pick up and use a garlic necklace?
Many thanks and kindest regards, Selene Putzo

In addition – I trust the two week old restriction, applying to the Thirst, also applies to the Rage so as to protect brand new second life residents from any kind of harassment.
If these points are not covered, you could find existing vampires purchasing Rage Huds, stalking old vampire hunting grounds for fresh human meat with random attacks… and then transferring the lumens to their vampires.
I’m certain you have thought of all this anyway.

ok here is what i think is a good question that on of my minions asked me…..
i have a minion that has a blood doll. She would like to know if she attacks her blood doll as lycan will there attack count up to her lumens?
and if that is true then all she would have to do is to keep her blood doll feed with apples, and be able to keep both her blood and lumen count up.

Yes, blood dolls will give you vital blood or lumens depending on which attack you use. You can also get lumens by attacking a vampire or vital blood by attacking a lycan.

ok the 1st thing bloodline need to do is fixs the stats and all tell me its not a joke that someone has like 189.3 of vamp blood and 4050 of lumens and there setting at number 3 on the blood wealth on the bloodlines vamp stats lumen is not vamp blood and should not be added up like it is if ur going to put the rage in with the bloodline vamp game stats u need to put there vamp blood down at 189.3 in the vamp blood stats then put there lumens on the rage stats at 4050 and have stats on both like that u just cant add the two togeather and just throw it on the vamp blood stats if u do u need to put all are vamp blood in the rage stats as lumens and that still would not be right becouse vamp blood and lumens are not same

in response to selene ,
It is in my experience that no bloodlines attack can take place without the “victim” accepting it period.
Random biting/slashing may be annoying but they are just as annoying as random notecard givers you may run into and automatic group joiners or friend requests from strangers or even a IM from someone that just likes you avatar.
These are all things you run into everywhere you go in SL and last time i checked this is a roleplaying game as far as random goes EVERYTHING in SL is random its part of the RP doesnt seem like there is an issue considering the size of some of the clans not to mention they keep growing everyday
I would suggest that when you come across a NON RP Vampire bite or Lycan slash that you deny it and then you tell them something intelligent about RP but how ever you deal with it please understand not all of us Vampires , Lycan , and Hybrids do random, some of us are heavy into RP.
Also Lycans cant go around killing Vampires bloodlines is a permission based game any attacks have to be accepted but your concept of a Lycan/ Vampire war sounds intrigueing

I did find a silly bug with the Rage system. If the creators check the comments, then maybe it’ll be fixable in a future update. 😉
Basically, if you have one lycan claw on, hide it and put the other on… Then every time you click the hide/show button it hides one and reveals the other!

On the Lycan Product page, there is an error on The Rage HUD
The Rage is the central product to the Bloodlines Lycan game. It includes 4 items: The Fangs, The HUD (Heads-Up-Display), The Bite Marks, and The Stat Viewer.
I believe “The Fangs” should be “The Claws”

@Cyzicus, thanks for pointing that out, we’ve fixed it!

actually if you detach them all and then reatach them all at the same time the two claws will be in sync when you hide them i have discovered this myself after having to attach a sword which removed the claw on that hand and leaving the other on and then when i logged off later i logged back on and found one claw showing so i hid it but then i realized i had the other one off and when i attached it just like you said one shows and the other hides so i detached them both and reatached them and that fixed it

it would be nice if all the Bloodlines products worked with ONE hud. i’d be perfectly willing to buy all the extras for the lycan system(special claws, avatar etc) but i wont buy Another sepreate hud

Sounds great and see many hybrid clans. Will stay with being embraced I think for me. But yet another great system from the team. Can we add any more products to the Bloodlines range though and perhaps lower the prices now it is so successful??
July 30th, 2009 at 1:05 am
In addition I do find the Bloodlines HUD price of L$599 as too high and this should be reduced. I am sure many would agree as to why such an essential item should be so very expensive. Is the Rage HUD of a similar price and what do others think??

The Rage has been released for about a month now. I am hoping to see these website features introduced soon:
– on Groups pages, on both Thirst and Rage, break out the Lycans from the Vampires in the total count. This data is important, and very time consuming to count by hand.
– I like the link at the top of the website to WAR now, BUT would really like the WAR profile on each person’s page like Vamp and Lycans are, direct link to the other game profile.
Of course, I’m sure all families are anticipating the release of vendors to allow Rage and WAR to be sold on our own lands.
Keep up the great work! xD

New to this site; several times I have heard individuals mention use of HUDS on property; I have several commercial sims & if anyone is interested to sublet for any reasons please contact me–Sera Renfew. I do not sell real estate but wish to offer rentals to fellow Vampires/Lycans at reasonable rates. If a DJ stream is needed for the parcel; let me know. Ty and best to all—Sera Renfew

this is totally off topic but I was wondering is it possiable to have the names of our destroyed clan members listed. It is a very time consuming process to Track the names of the Destroyed and a list would be extreemly helpful to be able to contact people and get them filled up again or work out if they no longer play.Thank you Shelli teebrook

@ Shelli – Great request Shelli. There’s actually an item coming out in the next few weeks that will do exactly what you’re asking, as well as a few other neat things. In addition, we’re planning a website update which will allow for easier searching of Abyss/Limbo souls.
