Electrum Adjustment And Profile Update
November 27th, 2008 by Mars BrackenGreetings vampires! We have two small items to announce today – we’re doing a small adjustment to the Electrum potion, and we’ve updated the profiles with a potion list.
First, the Electrum. As can be seen in the Comments, we’ve had a mixed reaction to the Electrum potion. Our intent with the Electrum was to balance the power of negotiation when it came to ‘hostage soul’ situations. Some players have expressed a lot of satisfaction with the new dynamic offered by the Electrum, but we’ve also gotten some harsh criticism, mainly expressing now the power shift is too far in the other direction, away from the soul owners.
We discussed many different adjustments; the one we are enacting today involves making the Electrum Potion a one-time use per avatar, in perpetuity. This means that as of midnight November 29th, 2008 – an avatar will only be allowed to use the Electrum Potion once in their life, period. This allows those who either were tricked into losing their soul, or have found their soul in a hostage situation, a single opportunity to free it. However, after that, one must be careful where their soul goes, because there will be no further way to force it away from an owner.
*** This is not a retroactive change. For those that have already consumed the Electrum prior to midnight on the 29th, that will not count against your one-time-only-use.
Which brings us to our second update – the profile Potion List. This list will show any potions that an avatar has drank – Wormwood, Hemlock, Nightshade, or Electrum. In addition to showing a little more about your avatar’s life and history, it also will enable those who are involved in soul dealings to know for sure whether an avatar has used up their one Electrum Potion or not.
As always we encourage Comments in the comments section of this post, and will do our best to weigh all feedback when considering updates.

I’d suggest making the price a little bit higher than it is.. and making it more than once in a life time. coz one in a life time is too much. thank you

I disagree with these changes to the potion.
These changes fairly destroy the fixing of problems the potion was made to correct.
I could go into all the ways it undoes all the fixes that the potion was ment for and will just resume a steady stream of complaints about stuck souls.
Well I have said my peace on the matter, other then the ones with most reason to complain about the potion doing what it was ment to do are in most cases the ones holding hostage souls.

LOL
Power shift AWAY from Soul owners? It is amazing to see the high soul count players being the biggest objectors to the potion.
As for RP, the term is too loosely being bandied about by people who sit securely on their stacked soul thrones while their minions add to their counts. RP happens in the INTERACTION between players. Having an unconditional soul movemnent, can only add to more effective RP.
But once again we see proof how the high soul count players have the only voice that gets heard.
Btw. a nice touch about a soul having to be ransomed with the potion, it ensures that the soul can only move among the upper circle.
The game is played by a fixed minority of bloodlines users while all the rest are just gullible hunted prey being picked up in shopping malls and at clubs.
Remove the upward aggregation of souls, let a soul earner be the only owner of that soul. Then we will see more RP! especially coupled with an unconditional soul transfer. Lieges will have to interact more with other players, ie MORE RP.
I think a total alternative to the mechanics and methodology of Bloodlnes would be a much more viable option. How about a system that enhances pure roleplay where advancement is determined by another system like maybe. clan vote?
