HUD Update: Thirst 4.0, Rage 2.0, Human 2.0

December 22nd, 2012 by Lyle Maeterlinck

Today we’re releasing updates to all three Bloodlines HUDs: The Thirst 4.0, The Rage 2.0, and The Human HUD 2.0. You can learn more about the new features on each HUD by visiting their respective instructions pages. The major update is the scanner, which gives more information about nearby avatars, including their Bloodlines status, race, clan, and soul status. The new HUDs also include convenience buttons to bite/claw (or offer a claw or bite in the case of the human HUD), set liege, glamour/terror, or get the stats of a nearby avatar, by clicking their name on the scanner.

See the image above for a diagram of the new features of the Thirst 4.0. Some of the other new features include:

  1. Clan/Pack/Guild settings have been broken out into a new button. So, instead of going to Settings > Clan/Group, just press the Clan/Pack/Guild button.
  2. Animation settings have also been broken out into a new button. So, instead of going to Settings > Animation, just press the new animation button.
  3. Shortcuts to your web profile and a quick button for your text stats have been added.
  4. To get text stats or a web profile on another avatar, click their name in your scanner list, then press the stats button on the info window that pops up. This button will respond to your setting of text/ web stats under settings.
  5. Get someone’s clan profile quickly by clicking their name in the list, then going to more options > clan profile.

We hope you enjoy these new HUDs, and dwe welcome your feedback!

  3. Carl Thibodeaux Says:

Wonderful update. This is going really make hunting fun and really relaxing. Thanks for this and many more updates to come. Have a wonderful Christmas and a wonderful year in 2013. Thanks again.

  4. MERLIN SWORDTHAIN Says:

    Yay,

About time for the scanner Upgrade thanks for including that and rumor has it from a good source a hybrid update is in the works.

Thanks again for having this out b4 Christmas.

    King Merlin

  5. MERLIN SWORDTHAIN Says:

Also you went from a hud with 7 scripts to one with 41 scripts… wow Thought it was laggy at Bloodlines b4 just wait ’til you have 30 people at Bloodlines east with 41 scripts on top of all the other scripted attachments they wear.
Many sims have avatar script restrictions of around 100 and that is very close to what a avatar is with out this hud on…
perhaps if it is the scanner that did it… it should have been a separate attachment.

    Thanks,

    King Merlin

  6. MERLIN SWORDTHAIN Says:

Another issue is that fact that we cannot leave the radar scanner on when the hud is closed… many usr the radar and wear the hud all the time for the radar.

  7. Thus Yootz Says:

Thank you for caring to create an update.
    However…
1 – It is a lot laggier. A lot. As if sl has not been crashing us enough lately. I used to be so proud of the really low scripted BL HUDS! I can wave goodbye to that pride and practicality.
2 – It is a lot less practical. The functions that were not used often were hidden, now they are visible, but not needed. Images are far to small to be seen, and it will be way harder to teach to a new member – especially if new to sl. Therefore resulting in fewer members. (Unless old members create more and more new alts, a fact that may increase profits but does not keep the game active with ‘new blood’)
Old players will be alienated even more, new players will be more reluctant to use the hud, and creators forget that not only avid players and old vampires/lycans use the hud.
3 – The radar on THIRST is ruined. A chunky black thing hiding part of the screen, disappears when you close it, gives info on everyone all the time – even if I don’t need it. The old scanner was a piece of art, the old radar was one of the best features, why change what has been working great to make it more complicated, less practical?

These huds are MORE and end up as LESS. More trouble, more lag, less practicality, fewer to play the game.

i have been a member of bloodlines since 2009 and while many have negative things to say about the whole thing, i myself have been more than glad to say i am a member. i have worn my hud constantly since joining and actually feel a bit naked when it is off. i have updated and enjoyed most things that come along even if they are things i do not personally use. but this new version hud is just horrible. too many scripts, tiny little buttons and many for things that will never be used, loss of the radar list unless i open the hud and take up vital screen space (am always on through laptop), so many things that are just so displeasing. i have never bad mouthed bloodlines and i feel bad saying anything negative now but for the first time i am just so unhappy with what has been given to us. please consider returning to the previous version. it is great as it is. there is no need for so many bells and whistles. just one vamps thoughts, but i will wear the 3.5 hud until i can’t any longer or there is a big improvement on this new one. that or sadly i won’t wear a hud at all. and to me that really would be sad.

  9. Emeline Thibedeau Says:

Nicely concise in new hud design

    However, just some gripes/ideas……
    1) PLS PLS keep scanner on, even when hud is collapsed!
    2) Add options for reaper and spike too? Not just bite?
    3) Scanner in v3.5 was great, why the bkg color or limits?
    4) Perhaps frivolous, and too scripty for some sims are: ‘teeth’ options like ‘clean’ or ‘dripping’. Expressions. Glamour. And Disappear.
    5) Add options to send Chrisma?

    Just some thoughts 🙂

Well, I have had a play with the new for five minutes and it seems pretty easy and self-explanatory. I like the the colour status of people around me on the scan list. The only criticism is the scan list disappears when I minimise the hud meaning I have to have it open most of the time. Overall, its pretty neat.. well done

  11. Marielavoe fairlock Says:

Hi I have never done this before but I feel strongly about this new hud
change. What were they thinking. Disabled on non scripting areas like freebie galaxy? We all know that these freebie places are some of the top hunting areas in sl. Also I feel there are two many buttons on the hud face
    causing confusion for new players

  12. Dana Dielli Says:

I have to say, as a sim-owner, I am a bit dismayed that you would choose to increase the scripts in the 3.5 Thirst HUD from 6 scripts, going to 41 scripts in the new 4.0 version.

This is a significant enough increase to make me considering banning Bloodlines from my land, and I *LIKE* Bloodlines! I cannot however, allow my sim performance to suffer further than it already has.

We all know script limits are the wave of the future. Why Liquid Designs would choose to ignore this fact, and induce extra scripts for questionable (to me) new features, eludes logic.
